Man United line up £30m Summerville move if Rashford leaves

Manchester United are ready to target Crysencio Summerville as a replacement for Marcus Rashford, but only if the England forward departs Old Trafford.

Manchester United are preparing to reshape their attack this summer, with the future of Marcus Rashford set to dictate their next move. The forward is due back at Old Trafford after a season-long loan at Barcelona, but his long-term status remains unresolved. United have already begun assessing alternatives on the left flank, and one name has emerged as a potential bargain.

Crysencio Summerville is the player in question. The Dutch winger impressed for West Ham during the 2025/26 campaign, notching seven goals and five assists in 34 appearances. That form earned him a first senior call-up for the Netherlands and a spot at the World Cup. With West Ham relegated to the Championship, they are open to selling and have set a price tag in the region of £30 million. Summerville remains on a long contract, so the Hammers can still drive a hard bargain despite dropping down a division.

Rashford, meanwhile, spent the last season in La Liga with Barcelona. The Catalan club decided against activating their £26 million option to make the move permanent, even though the England international contributed 14 goals and 14 assists. He is now expected to return to Carrick’s squad, but United would listen to a permanent offer. His substantial wages could complicate any potential departure, however, limiting the pool of interested clubs.

United need a natural left-sided attacker who can carry the ball, beat defenders and contribute regularly in front of goal. Summerville fits that profile and already knows the Premier League well. He would offer the direct running and creativity that the side sometimes lacks on that flank. At £30 million, the deal would represent sensible business compared to chasing another expensive superstar.

Still, the club must tread carefully. Forcing Rashford out simply to accommodate a new signing would be unwise. If Carrick believes the forward can be reintegrated successfully, his proven output at the highest level remains a valuable asset. The smartest approach is to settle Rashford’s future before committing to any deal. Signing Summerville without creating space in the attacking unit would only add another winger to an already crowded picture.

United’s recruitment team will monitor developments closely. The outcome of Rashford’s situation will likely decide whether the club press ahead with a move for Summerville. Should the England man leave, the Dutchman could be an effective, cost-conscious replacement. If he stays, United may look elsewhere - or simply trust in the quality already at Carrick’s disposal.
