Palhinha to Spurs off: deal 'dead in the water'

Tottenham Hotspur have definitively walked away from signing Joao Palhinha this summer, with a well-connected journalist now confirming the deal is completely off. The Portuguese international spent last season on loan at the north London club and impressed in patches, prompting expectations that a permanent move would follow.
The buy option embedded in the loan agreement was set at around €30-35m, a figure that many thought Spurs would trigger.
